Player Eligibility – British Tennis Member:

To be eligible to compete in the Gloucestershire Leagues ALL players must be British Tennis Members (BTM). This enables identification of players when loading results to the Tournament web site.

Membership is free for signed up members of your clubs affiliated to the LTA. Players can sign up at https://www3.lta.org.uk/Members/Join/. For free membership join as a ‘Lite Member’.

Players must also be linked to their club through their British Tennis Membership. They can do this by logging in to their BTM members’ area and updating their ‘My Tennis Venue’ via their personal details tab. Players may be linked to more than one venue. If help is required players can contact British Tennis Services Team info@lta.org.uk or 0208 487 7000.

Nominated Players:

Nominated players must be submitted before a club’s first match of the season and play at least 3 matches in the team for which they are nominated (Rule 2.6c).
Fixtures:

  • Ensure that you agree with the match fixture date and time entered on the online planner.
  • Only Home captains should re-schedule their matches on the Planner. Send confirmation of the change by e-mail or text to the opposition and ask for acknowledgement so that there is no doubt.

Half a Team:

If circumstances force you to use only 2 players in a fixture you should make a courtesy phone call to the opposition beforehand. Away teams should do this early enough to prevent hosts from over-providing refreshments.

Player Safety:

Home team captains are responsible for pointing out any potential hazards to their visitors.

Postponements and Rescheduling:

  • Cancelling matches and conceding points is not allowed (Rule 4.9). All teams are expected to play all of their matches. If a team makes no effort to rearrange a postponed or incomplete match it denies their opposition the chance to earn points, perhaps vital for promotion or to avoid relegation.
  • If postponing a match you must receive acknowledgement from the opposition (Rule 5.1). This sounds obvious, but occasionally text, phone and e-mail messages fail to reach the right person.
  • All postponements other than for weather or unfit courts must be confirmed within 24 hours by email to the opposition captain and copied to the Results Manager glosresultsmanager@gmail.com and include the following details: team initiating or causing postponement; date postponement acknowledged by opposition; home team name; away team name; match date as shown on Tournament Planner; reason(s) for postponement; revised match date, if known; sender’s name and telephone number.
  • If rearranging a match you are expected to use the same players and pairings other than in exceptional circumstances, which may have to be justified to the League Committee. (Rule 5.8).
  • To reschedule a match see Guideline to League Planer and Entering Results.
  • Requests for extension of the season beyond 31st August or 28/29th February will not be accommodated.
